Hi, I’m Angela, founder and legal strategist at eLiberti. I’m a qualified solicitor of the senior courts of England and Wales. And although I have extensive experience in law, I’m not your usual breed of city lawyer.
For instance, I arrived in the UK as a refugee from Africa, learnt English as a second language and was raised in a “rough area” of east London. Despite my non-traditional background, I was determined to be a city lawyer (notwithstanding my east London accent) because I had a passion for helping people realise their dreams.
For me law is a calling!
I was called to practise Law!
I started my career at the Government Legal Department, the principal legal advisors for the United Kingdom’s government, helping the government govern well within the rule of law.
I later managed legal claims on behalf of clients for the largest international outsourcing company in the UK. My recent successes include working as a commercial lawyer at an internationally-ranked commercial law firm. I advised FTSE companies and government departments on contractual strategy for a number of landmark projects including multimillion-pound infrastructure and energy projects.
Whilst at the firm I chaired the ethnic minority infinity group, progressing the conversation around diversity and inclusion in the legal sector, an initiative close to my heart even today.
With the birth of my second daughter came the desire to work on my own terms which ultimately led to the birth of eLiberti.
eLiberti offers businesses an alternative legal service that preserves the high standards of a city law firm while providing clients with flexibility and accessibility.
One desire fuels us:
A desire to help minority and female led SMEs access top notch commercial legal services.
This is stemmed from our desire to see entrepreneurs enjoy the liberty of entrepreneurship: whether its the financial liberty, the schedule liberty or the creative liberty.
At eLiberti, we want to rebut the perception that lawyers are only for rainy days. Although this may be true of some practice areas such as criminal law and personal injury, it’s quite the opposite in commercial law. Commercial law is mainly about preventing the rainy days and providing coverage on the rainy days. We want to teach entrepreneurs that if they invest in precautionary (front end) legal services at the right time, this will ultimately save them money and hassle in the long term.
Our core values are Excellence, Accessibility, Empowerment, Liberty and Giving Back. Learn more about it here.
